  • Admission to the basic doctoral and doctoral studies is realized on a competitive basis by admission committee formed in higher educational establishments (HEE) or scientific research institutes (SRI) in the procedure established by law.
  • Competitive selection for education in basic doctoral studies is based on the results of entrance examinations as well as in doctoral studies - on the results of the interview.
  • Registration in institutes of independent research is carried out by results of interview.
  • Individuals entering the basic doctoral studies or applying as independent joint candidates for a PhD degree must meet the following requirements:
  • have a Master‘s degree or a clinical residency diploma (for medical sciences), or a higher education diploma (according to specialty programmes);
  • have certain scientific results, including at least one scientific article published in a scientific journal and at least two theses of reports in collections of scientific papers on relevant scientific fields, which can form the basis of the dissertation research for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
  • Individuals who have a scientific and pedagogical experience of at least two years or who have certain scientific achievements (patents for inventions or copyright certificates) are formalized for an independent PhD degree.

 

According to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 22, 2017 No 304 "On measures to further improve the system of postgraduate education", the following documents are required for PhD, DSc and independent research.

 

  • application;
  • CV;
  • copy of the employment record, certified in the established procedure (for working applicants);
  • copy of a Master’s degree or clinical residency (for medical sciences) or a higher education diploma (according to specialty programmes);
  • list of published scientific papers as well as their copies.
  • Holders of the State Scholarship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan submit a copy of the relevant document.
  • Individuals entering the doctoral studies or applying as independent doctoral candidates for a doctoral degree (DSc) must meet the following requirements:
  • have a candidate of science or a PhD degree or other equivalent degrees received in foreign countries;
  • have significant scientific achievements after receiving an academic degree of a candidate of sciences or a PhD degree or other equivalent degrees received in foreign countries, including at least three scientific articles published in scientific journals and at least two theses in collections of scientific and scientific-practical conferences, in other collections of scientific papers on relevant scientific areas, which can form the basis of the dissertation research for the degree of Doctor of Science (DSc).

  • copy of the diploma of higher education, candidate of sciences or PhD or other equated to it academic degrees received abroad;
  • research report on the topic of research and a detailed draft dissertation plan for the degree of Doctor of Science (DSc);
  • list of published scientific papers as well as their copies.
  • An applicant for independent research applies with the application to the admission committee of HEE or SRE with the following attached documents:
  • CV;
  • copy of a Master’s degree or clinical residency (for medical sciences) or a higher education diploma (according to specialty programmes) - for registration as an independent candidate for a PhD degree;
  • copy of employment record, certified in the established procedure;
  • list of scientific papers and their copies;
  • copy of the diploma of the candidate of sciences or the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or other academic degrees equated to them received abroad - for registration as an independent applicant for the degree of Doctor of Science (DSc);
  • characteristic from the place of work.



Researchers are paid a stipend in a prescribed manner.

If a candidate does not defend his / her dissertation on time or does not defend it at all, the paid scholarship will not be refunded. However, measures will be taken against supervisors and advisors.

If the candidate defends the dissertation at least 6 months before the study deadline, the supervisor and consultants will be paid by the decision of the collegial body at the expense of extra-budgetary funds of the university or scientific organization 5.3 times the minimum wage.

If the applicant has to go abroad for personal work, during the doctoral studies, he / she can do so due to unpaid leave, provided that he/she duly notifies the management, except for conferences, symposiums, and scientific events that are directly related to scientific research.

Academic leave is granted if the applicant is ill for a long period of time or has a birth condition.
